What you write here is 100% right, but I don't think it's complete on the motivation side. You can want Jesus' sacrifice to get you out of hell and give you blessings, but you don't have to be regenerate to want that. Who wants to go to hell? The reason why the Christian wants to be a Christian is to be reconciled with God. "Christ suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, THAT he might bring us to God." (1 Peter 3:18).
